Showtime Benefit Variety Show at Venice Community Center on Jan. 24

(Venice, FL) When Hurricane Ian hit the Florida coast in September 2022, little did Venice Theatre know the damage caused would be so severe that, even now, it continues to need funds to rebuild. While progress has been made, the theatre, the 2nd largest and most active community theatre in the United States, still needs the community's help to finish the job. As of this writing, the theatre is more than 80% to its $25M fundraising goal, with less than $5M left to raise. 

So again, just as they did last year, the Showtime Benefit, a group of volunteers who normally perform out of Venice Theatre to raise money for various charities, have stepped up to perform their show at Venice Community Center with 100% of the proceeds going to help the rebuild efforts at Venice Theatre.                                                            

The Showtime Benefit Director and Choreographer, Maria Santagada, who is also the Tap Choreographer of Venice Theatre’s senior performance troupe, The Silver Foxes, states, “Venice Theatre is the heartbeat of this community. It provides all facets of people, children through adults, a place to learn, grow, entertain, and open up to new experiences. Venice Theatre has given so much to our community, that it seems only right to, once again, take 100% of the proceeds to help get them to the finish line.”

This year’s show will feature a variety of talent from Venice Theatre as well as other venues, and the Showtime Dancers, who will be tap dancing to songs the audience will know and love. Also, The Silver Foxes dancers will make an appearance and, Bill Troetel, a very busy Venice Theatre volunteer, will be the Master of Ceremonies.

The whole community is invited to enjoy an afternoon of great talent and, at the same time, help get Venice Theatre’s Jervey Theatre back open for its 77th Season.
