A Matter of Balance Fall Prevention Class at Nokomis Community Park

A Matter of Balance Fall Prevention Class

WHEN: Tuesdays, March 19 - May 7, 8-week series
TIME: 1 PM - 3 PM
WHERE: Nokomis Community Park,
234 Nippino Trail East, Nokomis, FL 34275

Falls are the leading cause of injury death, traumatic brain injury and hip fractures among older adults. Thus, fall prevention is top priority of the Florida Department of Health's community health improvement plan. We are working together with Sarasota County Aging Services to reduce the number of visits to the ER due to falls.

This 8-week series meets once a week for a two-hour class. Participants need to complete at least 5 classes for completion. This evidence-based program was designed for those with a fear of falling or those who are concerned about slips, trips, and falls. It's also a good fit for those who want a home-based exercise routine that will increase balance confidence, strength, flexibility, and coordination. This is a free program for anyone over the age of 60.
