Visitor Services Coordinator (Venice) Part-Time
General Description:
This position requires a high-energy customer service individual with a strong knowledge of Sarasota County,
with familiarity of South Sarasota County preferred. This position will inform visitors on Sarasota County’s
experiences while supporting the Visitor Experiences Coordinator with day-to-day operations, special projects,
and VSC volunteer guidance in the Visitor Experiences Coordinator absence. This is an at-will employment for a
non-exempt position.
Reporting, Workplace, and Working Relationship:
This position reports to the Visitor Experiences Coordinator. Your primary focus is to assist the Visitor
Experiences Coordinator by fulfilling daily and/or weekly projects, as assigned by the Visitor Experiences
Coordinator, and with or without the assistance of the VSC volunteers. Work will take place at the Venice Visitor
Center, located at 597 S Tamiami Trl, Venice, FL 34285. Requires you to maintain a professional relationship with
VSC staff, volunteers, Venice Area Chamber of Commerce staff and volunteers, and visitors.
Qualifications:
• Extensive knowledge of Sarasota County’s offerings and general area information.
• Must be able to operate a computer and printer.
• Enjoys and knows how to perform internet research, GPS mapping/directions, and data entry.
• Proficient in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Strong verbal and “people” skills.
• Ability to communicate well with the public, staff, and volunteers.
• Must be able to carry boxes that may weigh up to 25 lbs.
• Maintain a positive, professional, “can do” attitude.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Actively promote Sarasota County to visitors and provide excellent customer service.
• Assist visitors in person and virtually, answering questions and offering guidance on exploring the area
using research on the internet or using collateral available at the Visitor Center, keeping our partner
businesses top of mind for recommendations.
• Monitor and replenish brochure racks coordinating with Visitor Experiences Coordinator.
• Schedule volunteers for shifts at the Venice Visitor Center and manage volunteer calendar.
• Help accurately track daily visitor statistics.
• Support campaigns such as beach pass prize distribution.
• Participate in VSC customer service and training programs.
• In absence of Visitor Experiences Coordinator, notify Chamber if Visitor Center will be closed.
• Assist Visitor Experiences Coordinator with volunteer training and coaching.
• Collaborate with Venice Area Chamber of Commerce volunteer calendar and incoming material upon
Visitor Experiences Coordinator absence.
• Maintain a positive attitude towards your work, colleagues, and non-VSC personnel.
Emergency Preparedness & Response:
• This role works closely with the Community Relations & Partnership team to ensure procedures are
followed to secure Visitor Center and communicate in the interest of visitor safety.
Hours:
2-3 weekdays every week, variable schedule, 6-hours per day
